A solution for remote meter reading using wired M-Bus

Wired communication is typically used in large buildings where significant amounts of concrete block the usage of wireless communication. Wired M-Bus is the only communication protocol that allows remote reading of battery driven meters using wired communication.

Therefore, Kamstrup launched a new solution that set frequent, reliable data in its center point. Meter data is securely collected in a highly integrable system that connects to all types of energy management infrastructure in a building with easy-to-install hardware components. Remote firmware updates and the available 2-way communication technologies ensure that this complex solution meets future demands.

This solution consists of these major components:

Quality data from meters

Kamstrup’s MULTICAL® heat and cooling meters measure with exceptionally high accuracy. This is the result of the in-house testing capabilities, our highly automated production line; and the fact that Kamstrup produces in-house all major components (temperature and flow sensors, calculators) allowing us to fine-tune the meters.

New M-Bus Master

A gateway to hosted data storage

All Kamstrup meters support most communication protocols. The battery-run wired M-Bus technology allows us to wrap high frequency readings into our solution package. Data can be retrieved every 5- or 15-minute intervals from up to 250 meters, while the master’s built-in data storage guarantees that the measured values will not be lost.

The hardware itself is highly resistant against tampering, yet it is very easy to deploy, since no electrician is needed for its installation.

Hosted READy

The new M-Bus Master is able to connect to our hosted READy system that could ease your energy optimization workflow. On one hand, READy is highly integrable via API, and provides easy access to all kinds of energy management infrastructure. On the other hand, the hosted platform can collect data from both wired and wireless sources, you can handle all your meter data in one system.
