Optimisation and future-proofing of the grid – groundbreaking technology turns data into action

Grid Management Services is developed in collaboration with Nordic grid operators to strengthen the foundation that supports the steadily growing electrification. The solution creates a detailed picture of the state of the entire grid, enabling grid operators to validate, optimise and invest with radical precision.

Demand continues to grow – how long can the grid stand the pressure?

Electrification is increasing at a rapid pace – faster than today's grid was ever built to handle. And the pressure will only increase. Our network is designed for a different time – not for the dramatic growth in electric cars, heat pumps, and solar energy we suddenly see today.

By 2040, demand in the Nordics is expected to have increased by 72%, and this will undoubtedly put the current infrastructure under enormous pressure. To face the future with confidence, it’s crucial to understand the full scope of the challenge and identify where action is needed.

Data – an untapped resource with enormous development potential

What can we do to face the future with confidence? Ensuring a stable power grid is about more than just increasing capacity. It's about making the most of the capacity we already have – and here, meter data has a crucial role to play.

Because the data already exists. Each meter. Each phase. Each connection point tells us something about the state of the grid. What’s been missing, however, is a way to create an overview of the measurements so that they can be acted upon – and that’s exactly what Grid Management Services delivers.

Grid Management Services – from estimates to accurate insights

Grid Management Services is a combination of advanced analytics and operational expertise that enables grid operators to validate, optimise, and invest with radical precision.

It’s a patented technology that turns data into action and strengthens the robustness of the grid across all levels:

  • Gain in-depth insights into the grid with 100% GIS validation
  • Stabilise the network and reduce the risk of overloads
  • Free up capacity without investing in new infrastructure
  • Face the future confidently with an optimized power grid

These insights highlight the need for intelligent solutions, and that is exactly what Grid Management Services offers. Below, you can see how each solution contributes to a more stable and efficient grid.

The electricity meter has traditionally only been used for billing consumption, but we can also use it to monitor what’s happening with the phases in the power grid. How are they loaded? Where does the overload occur? We can also use the electricity meter to determine whether our grid is correctly mapped in our systems. That’s not always the case, and it’s extremely important – both for grid operation and for long-term investments – that we invest in the right places.

Case story: Kamstrup Grid Management Services helps DSO N1 spot issues and prioritise investments

By analysing and presenting existing data from any brand of electricity meter, GMS uncovers grid topology, phase, and configuration issues, helping the DSO handle major grid challenges and prepare for the future.
