Kamstrup A/S is acquiring eBZ GmbH to strengthen its position in Germany

Kamstrup has reached an agreement to acquire 100% of the shares in eBZ, an established German electricity metering company based in Bielefeld. The acquisition expands Kamstrup’s German activities from water and heat/cooling into electricity, substantially strengthening its position in the country and increasing its investment in Germany and Europe. It also opens a new chapter for eBZ, building on the company’s history and the work of its current leadership and employees.

Investing in Germany and Europe

Germany is central to Kamstrup’s long-term ambitions. As utilities digitalise and electrification increases demands on the energy system, Kamstrup sees a growing need for reliable metering solutions that reflect national requirements. The acquisition gives Kamstrup an immediate, credible position in the German electricity metering market, where the technical architecture, regulations, buying patterns and customer relationships are distinct.

eBZ’s innovative, high-quality meters are developed around the specific requirements of German utilities. Founded in 2014 by Dr. Uwe Schöneberg, Mr. Christoph Bujak and Mr. Martin Böhmer, eBZ has built a strong position in the German electricity metering market and trusted relationships with a broad range of German utilities and distribution system operators (DSOs). Following a successful generational transition in management over the past year, eBZ is now led by Michael Schwetje. The company also brings expertise in designing products to local market specifications, an established product base, stable annual volumes and competitive manufacturing capabilities in Bielefeld, Germany. These strengths complement Kamstrup’s broader product-development, technology and software resources, long-standing metering experience and international reach.

Together, the companies have a stronger platform to develop the customer offering and grow the business. Operations will continue in Bielefeld, supported by continued investment in the site and its manufacturing capabilities. The combination creates broader career and development opportunities for employees and strengthens Kamstrup’s ability to support Europe’s energy transition by helping utilities digitalise and respond to growing electrification.

Kamstrup has acquired 100% of the shares in eBZ and will take ownership on 1 October 2026. The parties have agreed not to disclose the financial terms of the transaction.
