Quality without compromise
From the day your water utility decides on a new meter supplier, the impact of meter quality will influence your operations and efficiency for a lifetime to come.
Long-lasting accuracy for confident meter readings - year after year
Uncertainty is the number one enemy of metering. That’s why we insist on delivering industry-leading accuracy without compromise — not just for a long time, but for a lifetime. Based on the latest ultrasonic technology, our smart water meters detect even the smallest consumption. And with their completely static design, they have no moving parts exposed to wear and tear. As a result, our meters deliver the same high level of accuracy throughout their entire lifetime of up to 20 years.

We Make What You Measure Matter

Reliable performance starts with reliable materials
A water meter’s performance is only as strong as the material it’s made from. That’s why we’ve gone the extra mile to create a meter design that delivers exceptional durability in even the harshest environments. Built from glass fibre-reinforced composite, our water meters resist corrosion caused by water, oxygen, and salts. Even when exposed to chlorine and varying pH levels, their performance remains unaffected. Thies means fewer failures, consistent accuracy, and a longer service life. It’s also a lightweight material, making installation easier and improving first-time installation success.
That's quality without compromise.

Accuracy
We strive for perfection. We drive quality towards zero deviation, zero intolerance. We know that zero can never be reached, but we are still eager to get there – even after we have put 10 million ultrasonic water meters in the market.
We test the accuracy of every single meter before we allow it to leave production. And we are not just testing it – we do it on substantially stricter tolerances than required by regulations. Just because we care a little extra. That is what we mean by quality.

Battery
You see, it is all about how the energy is taken out of the batteries and how much stress the software applies to the batteries. That is why our in-house physicist over the last 10 years has worked on optimising the process of deriving energy from batteries to deliver a steady energy supply throughout the lifetime of the meter. Optimised and refined through endless testing to ensure the longest possible lifetime of the meter. That is what we mean by quality.

Moisture
This is possible because we have ensured that our sealing technology is out of this world and optimised the robustness of our meters. We assemble the glass to the housing under decompression. And our meter housing is a patented, monolithic composite housing that is engineered and fine-tuned over a decade for maximum resistance towards moisture and humidity, as well as changing conditions and temperatures. That is what we mean by quality.

Quality control
Our manufacturing processes take place under our own roof, because we hate not knowing every little detail. Our staff works relentlessly every day to drive quality towards zero errors. Zero deviation. Zero intolerance.
Every meter delivered by Kamstrup has passed all quality test stages with zero failures. We spent approx. 50% of the entire manufacturing time of every single meter on quality testing and assurance to be 100% certain that it works. That is what we mean by quality.
"Kamstrup's flowIQ® 2200 meters offer unparalleled accuracy"
- Eau Agglo Perpignan Méditerranée
Christophe Sanchez, Team Leader – Field Consumers (Eau Agglo Perpignan Méditerranée)
"We tested these composite meters, and they proved to be of very high quality. The remote reading feature ensures meter reliability for remote data collection. There are also digital dials that allow for clear reading and provide instantaneous flow information."
Soizic Chocquart, Team Leader – Leak Detection
"Kamstrup has provided us with a technological edge we have never had before, becoming a key partner for leak detection, measurement, and having a tool directly integrated into the network to detect leaks as quickly as possible."

What makes a high-quality water meter?
A high-quality water meter combines lasting measurement accuracy, durable construction, reliable connectivity and long-term performance. Ultrasonic technology and a static design without moving parts can help maintain accuracy throughout the meter's lifetime.
How long should a water meter remain accurate?
A high-quality water meter should maintain reliable measurement accuracy throughout its intended service life. Kamstrup's ultrasonic water meters are designed to maintain a high level of accuracy throughout a lifetime of up to 20 years.
Why are Kamstrup water meters made from composite?
Glass fibre-reinforced composite provides high durability while resisting corrosion caused by water, oxygen and salts. It can also withstand varying pH and chlorine levels and is lighter than traditional materials, which can make installation easier.
Is composite better than brass for a water meter?
The choice of material affects durability, weight and resistance to the conditions in which a water meter operates. Kamstrup uses glass fibre-reinforced composite to provide corrosion resistance, durability and consistent performance in demanding water environments.
How does ultrasonic technology improve water meter quality?
Ultrasonic measurement uses sound rather than moving mechanical components to measure water flow. Because there are no moving parts exposed to wear, ultrasonic meters can maintain stable measurement accuracy over a long service life.
How does water meter quality affect a utility's costs?
High-quality meters can help reduce costs associated with inaccurate readings, failures, maintenance and premature replacement. Consistent measurement accuracy also supports reliable billing and better-quality data for utility operations.
Understanding the monetary value of quality
Customer service
By using high-quality meters, this will directly result in best-in-class service for your end-users. For some utilities, 9 out of 10 customer requests are about billing issues. But through accurate and reliable meter readings, you can ensure fair and transparent billing, reducing the need for manual interventions and corrections.
Accurate and fair billing also fosters trust and satisfaction among your customers, which is an important lever for various aspects.
CAPEX
High-quality meters contribute to capital expenditure (CAPEX) savings. By choosing meters engineered for longevity and performance, you reduce the frequency of meter replacements and associated costs, resulting in fewer investments in new equipment over the years.
Early in the installation process, you will also benefit from a high first-time installation success with minimum hassle of exchanging meters.
OPEX
Investing in meters with best-in-class product quality significantly reduces operational expenses (OPEX). With a low failure rate throughout the meter's lifetime, your utility can minimize maintenance costs and avoid frequent replacements.
With lasting accuracy in your meter readings, you will ensure streamlined operations and OPEX savings over time. Meter accuracy ensures precise billing, reducing the need for manual interventions and corrections. Furthermore, lasting accuracy ensures successful re-verification processes.
Durable, robust meters that resist demanding environments or humid conditions ensure the highest possible connectivity. With better data quality from every corner of your network, your utility can make informed decisions quickly and safely and make sure that your staff is prioritizing tasks in the right order.
Our household meters come with integrated acoustic leakage detection. This means that you can monitor your water network and identify leaks, enabling you to make the most appropriate decisions and optimise your leak detection efforts. Rather than searching for leaks blindly, your staff can spend their precious time verifying and fixing leaks, thus reducing the cost per identified leak. Ultimately, this will also reduce your maintenance costs for pipe repairs, as you will be able to detect leaks at an earlier stage. On top of that, you can also obtain substantial savings by minimizing your non-revenue water.
