Why are we phasing out the USB Meter Reader software?
The USB Meter Reader software will be phased out because changes in the core technology of the software will not allow Kamstrup to guarantee the required level of security. Additionally, the outdated technology would set us back to improve the user experience and to add the latest functionalities to the software.
What are my alternatives?
1. I have 100 meters or less and I currently use the USB Meter Reader software
Option 1 – Keep using solution at own risk after October 1st, 2024:
Kamstrup does not close the access to your USB Meter Reader software installation, but Kamstrup disclaims any liability in connection with the installation and use of the program after the official end-of-life date.
Option 2 - Migrate to a new, free solution:
ATTENTION: The USB dongle is not compatible with this solution. So, if you are using the dongle, you need to replace it with a READy converter.
When the USB Meter Reader software reaches end-of-life, you will be able to download another free software. This software will be available through your My Kamstrup account in the same way as USB Meter Reader today. The core functionality will be similar to that of USB Meter Reader.
What are the benefits of shifting to this new software?
The new solution is based on Kamstrup’s widely-used READy platform. It includes smarter drive-by functionality and better options to manage your meters.
How do I get access to the new software program?
The new software is not released yet, so you will have to wait for a bit. We expect it to be published close to the phaseout of USB Meter Reader. Please keep an eye on this webpage when October 1st, 2024 is approaching.
2. I have more than 100 meters, or I am based in the US, and I currently use USB Meter Reader

Option 2 - Shift to a READy solution:
ATTENTION: Meters, read via wired M-Bus Master, will need the new M-Bus Master Controller to transfer data to READy.
ATTENTION: The USB dongle is not compatible with READy. If you are using it, and you select Option 2, you will need to replace the USB dongle with a READy converter.
At the end of life of the USB Meter Reader you can migrate to Kamstrup’s robust meter reading system, called READy. We have an extensive offering within our READy productline – you can read more about it on this page.
