Kamstrup joins iPower

Kamstrup today announced they are joining the iPower on Smart Grid research

In 2025, 50% of Denmark's electricity comes from wind energy. iPower will honour this ambition by developing an intelligent and flexible energy system that can handle a fluctuating power generation.

iPower is a research project of 32 collaborating partners, universities and research institutions as well as industrial companies from various countries.

Department of Electrical Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark is coordinating the project and has the overall responsibility that the iPower platform achieves the desired results. The iPower Platform partner group has both volume and breadth to develop and demonstrate solutions that cover all critical aspects of intelligent energy systems with flexible consumption.

“Kamstrup is investing significant resources and money in the continuous development of our Smart Grid Suite, OMNIA,” says Henrik Baek Joergensen, Senior Product Manager for Smart Grid at Kamstrup and continues: “Innovation and development of new technologies form the core of our product development. It is therefore

only natural that we join forces with leading research institutions and industrial companies.”

Head of the iPower Programme, Anders Troi, Technical University of Denmark, welcomes Kamstrup as a new iPower member. “Smart Metering is the indispensable prerequisite for many application areas in the Smart Grid

solutions and Kamstrup holds key competencies as a leading company within Smart Metering,” Mr. Troi says.

The work in iPower is split into 7 work packages. Kamstrup will participate in the work package dealing with “Domestic Demand Response” and will supply smart meters, substation monitoring devices, wireless communication infrastructure and software to other work packages.
