Intelligent water technology will make a difference for the consumers in Tbilisi

Georgian Water and Power, who serves almost 470,000 consumers in Tbilisi with water and power, has invested in Danish intelligent water meters to obtain higher efficiency and provide more reliable consumption data to their customers.

Georgian Water and Power, GWP, will be first mover in the country within intelligent water metering as they have now invested in meters that are able to give them valuable information about their distribution network and at the same time provide precise and reliable billing.

“Accuracy, reliability, functional capabilities and TCO (total cost of ownership) of meters were the main reasons why Georgian Water and Power selected Kamstrup as our strategic long term partner for newly initiated metering project”.

The intelligent meters are supplied by the Danish company

Kamstrup, who has many years of experience within the metering industry.

“Our intelligent meters have been installed in many homes around the world, and we know the investment in this technology provides several benefits, not only for the utility, but also for the consumers, “ says Tanja Kisliakova, Sales Manager at Kamstrup. She continues: “The intelligent meters will enable Georgian Water and Power to measure the consumers’ water consumption precisely – every drop will be counted. And the meters are also able to detect leaks in a pipe or a running toilet, which will be a great advantage for the consumers as they can save both money and water”.

“Accuracy, reliability, functional capabilities and TCO (total cost of ownership) of meters were the main reasons why Georgian Water and Power selected Kamstrup as our strategic long term partner for newly initiated metering project”.

The intelligent meter supports remote reading and is set to make the reading process much more convenient for both consumers and utilities as it will replace manual reading of the meters. Besides operational efficiency, remote reading will be able to give the utility many possibilities with the data they can collect from the remote read meters. Georgian Water and Power is now testing the meters and the setup.

The first meters have already been installed and the next project with 10,000 meters will be installed during the coming months.
