MAG 8000 is a magnetic-inductive water meter for sectional surveillance and district metering.

In an electromagnetic (MAG) meter, a magnetic field is applied perpendicular to the direction of the flow. When conductive water passes through the field, it induces a voltage that is proportional to the flow velocity. As the meter’s in-side diameter is known, the volumetric flow rate can then be calculated. This technology requires that the water measured is conductive i.e., that it must contain ions and an electrical insulating pipe surface.
