80,000 Smart Meters with Multi-Billing in Northern Jutland

The electricity company HEF Net has concluded an agreement with Kamstrup, Denmark, to supply a total of 80,000 smart meters and wireless solutions from January 1, 2009, to December 31, 2011.
With the new fleet of meters and the wireless communication HEF Net wishes to go safely into the future and strengthen its position as a business of high customer service performance.

Kamstrup ensures us a cutting edge of modern billing.”
One of the perspectives of the system is multi-billing: the remote reading system also manages data from water and heat meters that only need to be integrated in a radio network. HEF considers it an obvious business opportunity to offer meter reading to water suppliers and heat utilities as well.
Sales manager Anders Nystrup from Kamstrup says: "For us it is a prority to deliver a system as flexible as possible that clears the path for a secure and easy data management."
Remote reading
The system will enable the supply company to read the meters automatically without having to disturb the users. Furthermore, the remote reading system delivers frequent and precise data enabling HEF Net to provide a professional energy consulting service.
The meter stores consumption data and transmits them automatically to the main computer at the supply company. Depending on the character and the nature of the local area, the data transmission uses different media, either a radio network or the GSM/GPRS net. This ensures flexibility and a high level of data performance.
End-user influence
80% of the end-users expressed a wish for the new DIN-rail meter from Kamstrup - a very compact electricity meter that can easily be integrated together with the other installations on a rail. The users appreciate the space-saving meter that can be discretely placed within the living quarters. The DIN-rail meter is in all other respects a normal 3-phase meter with exact the same functionalities and communication options as the other smart meters from Kamstrup.
