Project manager's logbook - stage 2

The project is divided into 3 stages: 2005, 2006 and 2007.
Production, installation and operation phases are repeated for
each stage.

 Production

2006-01-03 
Kamstrup Delivery of system components for project second phase is ongoing. Second phase will run until the end of 2006 and comprises approx. 6,500 metering points, primarily located in an urban environment.

Week 2 saw commencement of training for installation staff. These technicians are trained in meter exchange and installation of network components, using the Device Exchange System (DES). DES is an electronic tool specifically developed by Kamstrup, for managing and documenting the exchange of meters. Information, such as directions for the technician, specific information regarding the meter and the meter data are all handled electronically, using a GPRS connected hand held terminal.

Chosen media for data communication in this stage of the project, is mainly Power Line Communication (PLC).  

 Installation

2006-03-21
The installation process is progressing. 2300 meters have been exchanged according to the agreed time schedule.

2006-06-12
At the beginning of June, approximately 5,800 meters have now been ex-changed. Installation of network components will also be finalized by the
end of the month.

All meters read on an hourly basis have been exchanged and adjustment
and fine tuning is scheduled until 1st July, when the system should be in
full operation.

The EMS server, handling the data reading, was upgraded and now handles automatic reporting to the state utility Svensk Kraftnät.

During the summer, all meters installed in summer residences, will be exchanged to new electronic Kamstrup meters.

In the light of the good progress, it has even been decided to commence
with phase 3 earlier than first planned. This is scheduled for autumn and
the planning of this phase is going ahead now.
